Background

Dahmer had a neglected life in his childhood. He was abandoned during high school and resorted to drinking. He went to Ohio State University but dropped out within a few months. He then enlisted in the army but was discharged for excessive alcohol use. He had numerous jobs, all of which he was laid off for drinking.

He stated that he was totally obsessed with the need to dominate and control, and have total control over a body. This is similar to the motives of Macbeth. Macbeth wanted power and control as ruler, and both would kill to achieve this power.
