The teams
Together with your teammates from your university, find a short Youtube video (max 2 minutes) that – from your knowledge at the moment – represents the city (Baltimore and Tel Aviv) where your partners study (this could be news, a tourist ad, a music video, a trailer from a TV series set in the city, etc.).
Prepare to share your video in the first meeting and discuss responses in your team. (If a team member cannot make it to the kick-off, share the videos in your own channels and discuss during the week).

Task description
The assigned articles:
Before you get started, listen to/read the two texts assigned here on the right as background to the theme Global competence and inclusive English teaching. In this individual task you will get to know your group members through brief (recorded) educational stories related to English as a school subject. Your stories and different cultural examples will provide a starting point for discussing global competence and inclusion as part of teaching English, which will be a running thread in the Virtual Exchange project. The task includes two parts: complete part 1 before November 12; complete part 2 before November 19.

Task description
In this final task (which has 3 parts - be sure to read all the way to page 3) you will build upon the work you did for task 2 to plan and create a multimodal video, (max 7 minutes) using multimodal tools (see the examples above), focusing on your fact file. Your aim is to clearly identify an issue of Global competence and inclusive English for the English/TESOL classroom and present possible ways of managing or dealing with the issue that would be helpful for other English/TESOL teachers and student teachers. In preparation, please view the two example multimodal presentations from prior groups of students.

Each task will be led by students from a different institution
Consider what it means to be a task leader. A task leader is not the boss or someone who does all the work. A task leader is a coordinator and facilitator who does the following:
liaises with the instructor when the team has questions about the task;
initiates discussions of task instructions and checks so that all team members agree on how best to approach and carry out the activities together;
takes the role as mediator, driving team-discussions onward by for example posing questions, suggesting ideas and making sure that everyone is included;
organizes, runs and records your video conferences or delegates someone in your team to do this;
makes sure that team activities are visible on the task Padlets.
