What is it?

What is it?

Genially is a presentation tool that gets interactive and makes it more engaging to the readers

1 - Presentations

You can use free presentation templates and insert content directly into a brand new genially. You can add interactive spots where videos or text can be added. Access this content by clicking on it or hover over it.

2 - Independent learning

You can organize all your learning into a single slide or organised into sections easily accessible from the Index page. Pupils can self-assess.

3 - Quizzes

You can easily create a fun quiz that feels like a game! It's perfect for making assessment more fun for your students or for having students show what they know.

4 - Escape Rooms

Genially has many templates for Escape Rooms and offers many features to make it really engaging.

5 - Embedded websites

Genially allows you to embed various websites (Kahoot, Quizziz, Learning Apps, Forms...).All you need is the embedded link from the website and insert it or create one using 'I frame generator'

6 - Boardgames

You can find some reusable templates of board games and adapt them for your learning needs or just add your own twist.

7 - interactive flashcards

You can use a template and then download it as a PDF or an image.

- (Mostly) FreeThe Free plan gets you unlimited creations, unlimited views and free templates, and resources. - easy to share, no login necessary for pupils - engaging and good for differentiation (wide range of activities, easy to add help - hoovering mouse) - can be used offline if necessary - can have your Ppt presentation converted - can be dowloaded as PDF - the interactivity is kept (links) - Many templates available online and active community (Facebook groups/Youtube videos) - evolving : new extensions added regularly enabling new functions (timer, points...)

Issues

Issues I have encountered

- not so easy to start with/time consuming - some functions not available in the free version : add audio from computer (you can record your own audio) - some websites blocked by Edinburgh Council so Youtube videos/Google Earth videos don't work on the Ipads. - issue with school signal has been a problem at times, especially for Escape Games so that pupils had to start again after losing connection. - pupils generally on task as they enjoy it but not necessarily doing all the tasks planned - mainly want to do the games.
