10 Stages of genocide in armenia

Stage 6: Polarization
Stage 1: Classification

Prohibited relationships with Armanians. And Turkey used propaganda as well as saying that Armenia sided with Russia, to isolate them and show them as harmful.

A division into separate groups between the Turks and the Armanians. The separation was primarily due to their religious outlooks but in the division Turkey considered themselves superior to the Armanians. The Turks were Muslim and the Armanians were Christian.

Stage 7: Preparation

Anti-Armanian demonstrations, sending Armanians to fight WW1.

Stage 2: Symbolization

The Armanians were called unbelieves or infidels, therefore being considered not part of Turkey as they weren't faithful to the Muslim beliefs.

Stage 8: Persecution

Forced out of houses, disarmed, steal and burn property, death marches, and killing Armenian leaders.

Stage 3: Discrimination

The Armanians were given taxes that only applied to them and not anyone else. They also weren't allowed to vote.

Stage 4: Dehumanization
Stage 9: Extermination

The Armanians were called unbelieves or infidels, therefore being considered not part of Turkey as they weren't faithful to the Muslim beliefs.

Deportation, gas suffocating, burned to death, exiled by Syrian desert or shot, and lastly the women and children were separated from men and sometimes the old.

Stage 5: Organization

Ottoman Turkey governed by a group called the “Young Turks” that organized for Armenians to either be exiled or killed by militias and a group of criminals called the “Special Organization”.

Stage 10: Denial

Turkish government currently refuses to address the genocide and it was made illegal for citizens to talk about it.
