Divergent is a dystopian novel set in future Chicgo. Every single child once they turn 15 they have to choose their path in life. They do this by picking a faction they belong to. The main character Tris betrays her family and chooses to live life as a Dauntless. Throughout the book shes starts to realize that she's a part of a special faction that has been kept a secret.

The main character tris is a selfless, creative, brave, and intellegent person. All of the character traits correspond with the books defiention of being divergent.

The theme of this book is finding your ideantity and using it to help the world. The whole idea of the book is kids choosing who they want to be. By choosing which faction they will be in.
