We believe in the power of technology to transform society and improve people's lives. However, we recognize that technology also has the potential to harm individuals and society as a whole. Therefore, we propose the following principles to guide the development and use of technology in a liberal society where data is freely shared and stored by corporations. Principles: Privacy and Security: Individuals have the right to control their personal data and expect that it will be protected from unauthorized access, use, and disclosure. Corporations must prioritize the security of their users' data and be transparent about their data practices. Diversity and Inclusion: Technology must be developed and used in a way that is inclusive and respects the diversity of all individuals, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics. Corporations must actively work to prevent bias and discrimination in their products and services. Ethical AI: As artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent, we must ensure that it is developed and used ethically. AI must be transparent, explainable, and accountable, and it should not be used to reinforce harmful biases or discriminate against individuals. Responsible Innovation: Technology companies must take responsibility for the social and environmental impacts of their products and services. They must consider the potential consequences of their actions and work to minimize negative effects. Collaborative Governance: Technology governance must be collaborative, inclusive, and transparent. Governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders must work together to develop and enforce policies that promote the public good while respecting individual rights and freedoms. By adhering to these principles, we believe that technology can be a force for good in our society. We call on all technology companies and individuals to embrace these principles and work together to create a more just and equitable future for all.
