Traditional Clothing
01
The female costume
omen in Apulia wore long, flowing dresses made of light materials like cotton or linen. The dresses often featured intricate embroidery or lace details. Married women wore a headscarf, while unmarried girls wore their hair in braids or loose. They also wore handmade sandals called "ciabatte" or "pupine" made of leather, and sometimes adorned with colorful ribbons.
02
The male costume
en in Apulia wore loose-fitting trousers made of wool or cotton, along with a shirt and vest. They also wore a jacket or cloak, especially in colder weather. Men typically wore leather boots or sandals on their feet.
03
Formal dresses
uring special occasions, such as weddings or religious holidays, both men and women dressed more elaborated clothes. Women wore brightly colored dresses with gold or silver jewelry, and men wore tailored suits with hats.

Traditional Clothing
n some areas of Apulia, traditional clothing is still worn today. For example, the "pizzo" costume, which originated in the town of Tricase, features a long, white dress with lace details and a white headscarf for women, while men wear black trousers and a white shirt with a black vest. Overall, traditional Apulian clothing was functional and practical, designed to withstand the hot Mediterranean climate. However, it was also highly decorative and reflected the region's rich cultural heritage.
