Climate Change in the USA

Carbon Footprints per citzen

the US political climate is ever-changing. The presidency specifically has a very large impact on the US's contributions to climate change policies (Nakaya, 2017).

"There is no more significant threat than climate change and it isn't just happening to people in far-off countries--it's happening to us." - Gina McCarthy

49%

"CO2 is the main player because it stays in the atmosphere and oceans for thousands of years and it is by far the largest contributor to global warming." - GML Senior Scientist Pieter Tans.

Amospheric Heat Retention Since 1990 (Stein, 2022)

While the US is the leading producer of greenhouse gases, its Federal officials have yet to contribute any substantial reduction efforts (Reese, 2006).

Committed States

The way that America’s power grid is meant to operate currently, isn’t what it needs to be to take on certain renewable sources. The energy produced from fossil fuels is constant. But, with renewable resources such as solar and wind power, they are more sporadic. The sun only shines in specific areas at certain times and there is no guarantee that an area will have enough wind to generate energy (Shankar, 2023).

But

These states goal is to reduce emissions by seven percent below pre-90s levels (Reese, 2006).
