THE ORIGIN
The Globe Theater
01
The Globe Theater is an Elizabethan playhouse built by the Shakespeare Company ( the Lord Chamberlain's Men ) in 1599. On 29 June 1613, the theater faced a disaster: during a performance of Henry VIII a piece of wadding from a stage cannon set fire to the thatched roof burning the Globe to the ground The Globe Theater has been rebuilt in 1614 but the arrival of puritans, who were Protestants, the power provoked the closed of the theater after the abolition of entertainment in 1642 and its demolition in 1644.

In 1970, started the historical reconstruction of The Shakespeare Theater. It's the most identical reproduction in the world but was built 230 m from the place of origin. The reconstruction took 27 years and the theater officially opened in 1997.
The current monument is a construction based approximately on the plans of 1599 and 1614.
Location: New Globe Walking, London, United Kingdom

THE THEATRE ARCHITECTURE
THE MATERIALS
The building used twenty huge oak timbers that soar 32 feet into the air to form the main frame of the new Globe Theater. It is an “authentic” 16th-century timber-framed building as no structural steel was used. The seats are simple benches with a seating capacity of 873 with an additional 700 “Groundlings” standing in the yard, making up an audience of about half the size of a typical audience in Shakespeare’s time The Globe has the first and only thatched roof permitted in London since the Great Fire of 1666.
THE PLAN :
The theater is built in the shape of a semi-circle which promotes interaction between the public and the actors. All the elements composing the building have a meaning: The roof symbolizes paradise and the pit faces the hell scene.
