Before 1919 Ireland was a part of United-kingdom

In 1919 there was a war between southern Ireland and Northern Ireland because Southern Ireland wanted Independence. This war was called "Irish war of independence".

The war opposed the IRA and British troops. In 1921 the war ended and Ireland was partitioned in 2 parts.

The troubles

This was a conflit between catholics an protestants in Northern Ireland

For example they don't have the same school , the same sport...ectThese injustice to cause bigs demaonstation and violent events like Bloody sunday and bloody friday.

This is begin in 1969 the two communities don't have a good relationships, they are tension betwenn us.Because catholics don't have the same right and same services as protestant so they furious.

Bloody Sunday

30 january 1972

I'ts a demonstration gone wrong. She took place in northern ireland more precisly in Derry. The catholics demonstrated for their rights because they don't have the same rights to protestants. The british troops who helps protestants theys came to stop the demonstration. But the demonstration gone wrong and several soldier have shoot demonstrators. 14 peoples was killed. The british soldiers don't have reason for killed the demonstrators therefore is unfair. And the primer minister apologized but no one was punished.

Bloody Friday

The end

On 10 August 1998 Northern Ireland and England signed the Good Friday Agreement, a text that restored peace to Northern Ireland. It's the end of Toubles. In 30 years, the Troubles were terribly destructive:

  • over 3,480 dead (civilians and soldiers, including men, women and children)
  • 47,500 woun
  • ded 19,600 prisoners imprisoned without trial
  • 37,000 shootings
  • 16,200 bombings

As the result Northern Ireland are always with Uk but they are always unfair between catholics and protestants. for exemple they are diferents schools even if they try to mixt these 2 communities. For pays tribute to the victims they have make mural for exemple.
