BASIC ONE PAGER

In a place called Panem, a region including 12 districts, there is an event called the hunger games where a boy and girl from each district battle out to death until there is only 1 person left Katniss Everdeen is from district 12 which is the poorest district and doesn't have much to rely on after she was chosen to be in the games.

The symbol I feel best represents the hunger games is the Mockingjay pin that katniss wore to the games. I believe this because the mockingjay pin was an experiment the government couldn't control and this is what Katniss is to the capitol.

One of the many themes of The Hunger Games, is that you can be brave even when you're scared. When Katniss heard her younger sister was chosen to be a tribute she had to be brave even though she knew she would not return “I volunteer! I gasp. I volunteer as tribute!” (Collins 22).

The resolution of the hunger games is after everyone in all the other districts had died, there were only 2 people left and they both almost died after the games. The resolution is that Katniss and Peeta (the 2 remaining tributes) get restored to better health.

Katniss is very determined, ruthless, and brave. After being chosen for the hunger games, Katniss is sure she is going to die because she is from the poorest district and was not trained for it like some of the tributes in the other districts. However, she still stays determined to stay alive for as long as possible for her family. As stated previously in the theme, Katniss showed bravery when taking her sister Prim’s place in the hunger games and staying brave throughout the games even when she knew she would die.
