Summary
In the book "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins a girl named Katniss gets enrolled in the Hunger Games. In the hunger games, a boy and a girl from twelve districts are forced to fight to the death. They must put their skills and abilities to the test in deadly situations. Katniss is equipped with a bow, her best weapon. In the arena, Katniss comes across many obstacles such as alliances and generated natural disasters all for the capital's amusement.
Theme
The theme in this book is violence can be used to control people. Suzanne Collins conveys to the reader how power can be abused by a corrupt, dystopian government. This is relevant because a wealthy and controlling government hosts the hunger games for viewer entertainment.
Characterization
Katniss Everdeen is the main character in this book. Katniss is adventurous and hard-working. We can see this whenever she goes hunting or when she is determined to do anything to win the hunger games.
Plot
The climax of the book is at the end of the games when it's down to the final fight. The reason why this is the climax is that it's near the end of the book and is the turning point in the story. This scene is very nerve-wracking and hard to watch.
Symbol
The Mockingjay is a bird in the Hunger Games that bred outside the control of the Capitol. As a result of this, the Mockingjay has come to symbolize courage, perseverance, defiance, and rebellion for the people of Panem.
