In the book Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen comes from the poorest district known as district 12. Each year there is an annual hunger games where people are forced to fight eachother with limited resources. Katniss was obligated when she volunteered as tribute for her sister. She must fight for survival.

The main charcter Katniss Everdeen is brave, resoursful, and skilled. I know this becasue she shows bravery when she volunteered to fight as tribute for her sister, resoursful, when she used what she could when she was fighting, and skilled becasue she knows how to work with weapons to protect her.
The nation of Panem is divided into 12 districts, made by the Capitol. Each district is forced to select two tributes, one teenage boy and one teenage girl, to fight to the death in the Hunger Games until there is only one survivor.
The theme used for this book is Survival. This is becasue that is what they are in the arena to accomplish. They train and work for this. Even when they are fighting in there districts, they are fighting for survival, because of the living enviornment.

Symbol
This symbol is a mockingjay. The mayors daughter gave Katniss a pin with a mockingjay on it to wear as she fights. Mockingjays also help Katniss and Rue to communicate during the games.
