3.Introduction

• The hook introduces the object or event in the descriptive and gets the reader's attention. • The middle sentences provides the background. • The thesis statement tells why the object describe is important to the writer. Ex: My father is the most influential in my life. He has been a constant source of support, guidance, and unconditional love over the years. His presence in my life has shape me into the person who I am today.

4.Body

Most of the description is in the body paragraphs:

2. Show not tell - Show the reader the actions and feelings instead of telling - The scene is often described with prepositions and prepositional phrases that specify location or position in space +Ex: She holds a bouquet of flowers in her hand and sings while walking The snow has fallen white outside

1. Sensory details - Use 5 senses: sight, sound, smell, touch, taste - Adjectives and adverbs make the experience more vivid => To add depth of detail to writing +Ex: That flower is blue (sight) The strawberry is very sweet (taste)

3. Figurative language - Describe something by comparing it to something else make the writing more descriptive, familiar, and expressive +Ex: She is as beautiful as an angel He's slow like a turtle

5.Conclusion

It is the last paragraph of the essay that gives the writer’s final opinion about the item described. +Ex: My father is a kind of person that does not show his feelings a lot, but I can sure that he will show me in his own way. Although, sometimes he is rude, does not kiss or hug me everyday, when he does, it is what I consider the most lovely actions he does for me. To conclude, for me my father is always the best person in the world.

Tips:

-Try to describe your topic as specifically as possible. -Always make an outline before starting to write an essay. -Choose the right words for each sentence.
