He was told to get off a train, even though he had a ticket, because he was not white.
Apartheid in South AFrica was about discrimination against black people like Segregation in the US.
He believed in non-violent protests : he encouraged people to protest peacefully.
Because he encouraged people not to buy British goods (so he stood up against the British Empire)
Because it means "Great Soul" : people were grateful that someone helped them.
They feared that Indian people would rise and go to war against them. (= rebellion)
The British agreed to make some changes and improve lives of poorer people.
Nathuram Godse (a Hindu nationalist) who hated Gandhi because he thought he was responsible for the Partition.
