CLASSISM AND GENDER INEQUALITY

In 1912, themes of classism and sexism dominated English society. The class divide ruled England with an iron fist, the bottom class (80% of the population) earning very little and struggling very much, the top class overwhelmed by luxury. Women were deemed weak and unable, given domesticated roles and restricted from modern-day human rights - they were not able to vote, and were seen as marriage trophies. A poor woman was of no use to a man in 1912.

The Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank on April 15th 1912 after striking an iceberg on the way to New York City, USA.
