- At lunch, Mr. Wolfsheim gives an odd impression Gatsby may have acquired his wealth in an unsavory way
- Jordan tells Nick of Gatsby & Daisy's past
- Gatsby was a soldier, they were in love
- Daisy married Tom, despite Gatsby's letter
- Tom has been unfaithful the entire marriage, Daisy has not
- Gatsby has asked Nick (through Jordan) to arrange tea for he and Daisy to meet

- Trio finds out that George has discovered Myrtle's affair and is moving West
- Tom finally confronts Gatsby, Gatsby admits his love for Daisy, and she never loved Tom

- Daisy gets closer to Tom during the quarrel
- Tom sends her home with Gatsby, feeling he has bested Gatsby
- The trio discovers on their drive back that Myrtle has been struck and killed
- Tom feels George will remember the yellow car

- Nick gets home to see Gatsby hiding and watching Daisy's window
- He wanted to be sure Tom didn't hurt Daisy
- Daisy was the one driving the car, but Gatsby will take the fall

- George thinks the billboard is sign to seek revenge for God
- George knows it could not have been Tom, as he arrived in a different car
- He finds Gatsby floating in the pool. and takes his life

- breaks up with Jordan, who has already become engaged

- Tom says Gatsby deserved to die, and he's upset he lost his affair apartment

- Nick realizes Daisy and Tom are awful people
- they destroy people and things, knowing money will always resolve their issues
- Nick realizes the story is about the West
- the East seems terrible by comparison
- Nick spends his last night on Gatsby's beach
- thinks about the early discoverers before the houses existed
- Nick says America was once for dreamers and explorers
- Makes comparision to Gatsby to Daisy

- Gatsby's dream had already ended, his goals were now "hollow and empty"
- Nick says that everyone's dreams are this way, but they cannot escape the current of their past
