History
Walter Frederick Morrison and his future wife Lucile had fun tossing a popcorn can lid after a Thanksgiving Day dinner in 1937.After the war, Morrison sketched a design for an aerodynamically improved flying disc that he called the Whirlo-Way, after the famous racehorse. He and business partner Warren Franscioni began producing the first plastic discs by 1948, after design modifications and experimentation with several prototypes. They renamed them the Flyin' Saucer in the wake of reported unidentified flying object sightings."We worked fairs, demonstrating it," Morrison told the Virginian-Pilot. The two of them once overheard someone saying that the pair were using wires to make the discs hover,so they developed a sales pitch: "The Flyin' Saucer is free, but the invisible wire is $1.
Rules
basic
where and when it was invented?
The match starts with a "pull", where one side throws the other.
A player cannot run with the puck and must stop as soon as he receives it, although he can pivot on one leg (to netball).
If a pass hits the ground, is intercepted or caught off limits, possession goes to the other side.
A player in possession has 10 seconds to pass the puck or cede possession to the opposition.
The defender (scoreboard) does the math (loss account).
Ultimate is a non-contact sport and defenders can only stand within three meters of the disc stand.
Substitutions are only allowed after a goal has been scored (and before the centre kick-off), to replace an injured player or after periods of play and not during a timeout.
