What is GCEd?

GCED is the process of learning how to understand diverse people and cultures and live together in an interconnected and sustainable world. (UNESCO, 2015)

Furthermore....

GCED is a strategy to help youth access opportunities as well as navigate the challenges presented by this diverse and interconnected world of increasingly porous borders.

Key findings

  • All 9 attributes are adequately made explicit in the curriculum competency and learning outcome statements from grades PP-XII.
  • Alternative learner-centered assessment practices are key in the curriculum but inadequate in classroom practices

Goals

Empower learners to assume active roles to face and resolve global challenges and to become proactive contributors to a more peaceful, tolerant, inclusive, and secure world.
