Proterozioc Eon

Time: 2.5 BIllion yrs. ago to 541 Million yrs.ago It is divided into some subsections: Paleoproterozoic (2.5 billion to 1.6 billion years ago), the Mesoproterozoic (1.6 billion to 1 billion years ago), and the Neoproterozoic (1 billion to 541 million years ago) eras.

World: For a lot of the time, the world was in its most noteable of many ice ages. The supercontinent Pangaea was broken up as plate tectonics became active. There was a sverely low level of oxygen in the atmosphere, so there was very little oxygen throughout the eon until the end.

Events: The most significant event was the first movement of tectonic plates. This formed many mountains and volcanoes we have today as well as breaking up into many continents. There was the freezing of the Earth in the biggest and most known ice age. Finally, there was the evolution of eukaryotic organisms, which would lead to massive diversity in life on Earth.
