EMDR
EMDR must be delivered by a trained therapist.Studies have shown that EMDR can significantly decrease PTSD symptoms in just two or three sessions, and that the effect is long lasting.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a form of psychotherapy that helps an individual to process and recover from past traumatic experiences affecting their mental health and wellbeing.

- When an individual is involved in a traumatic event, their brain may be overwhelmed and struggle to process what is happening. The memory of the event can become stuck, causing intense and vivid flashbacks.
- EMDR is used to help reprocess the memory and desensitise the individual to the emotional impact of the memory.
- The individual is asked to recall the traumatic event whilst also moving their eyes from side-to-side, hear a sounds in each ear alternately, or feel a tap of each hand alternately.
- This process can stimulate the processing system in the brain and reduce the intensity of the memory.
