Timeline
The Jurassic Period took place approximately 201 million years ago to 145 million years ago. The Jurassic Period was within the Mesozoic Era, in between the Cretaceous and Triassic periods (Gradstein 2004).
Major Events
Approximately 200 million years ago, the supercontinent of Pangaea started to break apart. This was caused due to accumulated heat within the Earth (PBS Par. 2).
