Nuclear Fission Power

1. ORIGIN:

The Nuclear Fission Power is obtained from the separation or fission of the atoms of radioactive heavy minerals such as uranium.

3. MAIN PRODUCERS:

2. USE:

It's used above all to produce electricity in nuclear power stations.

The United States, France and Japan.

a nuclear power plant

5. ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES

5.1 ADVANTAGES:

1. Nuclear fission power does not release the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide.2. A controlled nuclear fission reaction releases one million times more energy per kg than a chemical reaction such as burning coal, oil or gas. This means much less fuel required than for a conven22tional power station which keeps transportation and mining costs low and reduces the associated hazards. 3. Nuclear power creates employment opportunities for many people. 4. Modern reactor designs are extremely safe.

5.2 DISADVANTAGES:

1. Radioactive waste is extremely dangerous and long lasting. Expensive measures must be taken to store it. In some cases, the waste is stored deep underground and must be kept for tens of thousands of years. Over time, this could leak and cause underground water and soil pollution. This is a particular worry in regions where there are earthquakes.2. Incidents at nuclear power plants in Ukraine and Japan have caused huge economic, health and environmental damage to the area surrounding the power plant. 3. The military use of nuclear fission could lead to a war using nuclear weapons

6. DEFENSE:

When none of the renowable energies that exist cannot work because the sky is cloudy, it rains or the wind does not blow, the one that will produce the most energy is nuclear fission.
