Instructional Technology Coordinator, Hinds Community College October 2018- Current

Coordinate all instructional technology across the six campuses. Serve as system administrator of the Hinds Community College LMS. Supervise TechNest student technology center specialists and operations of TechNests, Media Center, and the Raymond studio.

Interactive Panels

• Started with the CTL for instructor testing.
• Branched into replacing aging projectors with interactive panels.
• Encourage interaction within the learning environment.
• Presented idea of having Hyflex spaces on each campus for reservations.
• Covid-19 expedited and expanded the hyflex plan.

Training

eLearning Train the Trainer SessionsIntroduced 16 instructors and TechNest specialists to the interactive boards. Received training from a SMART certified trainer with follow-up from the instructional technology coordinator. Established SMART interactive panel resource members on each campus. Trainings are ongoing for Canvas, Canvas integrations, and SMART interactive boards.

Workday Transition

The college is undergoing a transition to a new student information system called Workday Student. This process is calling for much collaboration among departments.

Attendance Implementation

There are many impacts of the Workday transition. Workday Student does not have an attendance component, which resulted in planning and implementing a two-semester pilot for a new attendance system that integrated with Canvas.

Diversity Series

As part of the Predominantly Black Institutions grant, several areas supported the Center for Teaching and Learning in its objective to expose faculty to skills needed for communicating across cultural boundaries.

Internal Recognition

Began the eLearning Tech Wizard award to recognize online faculty who use and encourage the use of instructional tools purchased by the eLearning department.
