  • Human performance - Chemical analysis is performed on substances taken from a living person to determine how it affected their behavior and performance in cases like impaired driving and child custody.
  • Forensic drug - Tests are run for the presence of certain substances in a living person. It can be used for athletics, probation and parole meetings, and it prevents drug use in workplaces for the reason of safety and productivity.
Forensic Toxicologists spend most of their day in laboratories, but sometimes they are asked to testify in court or go out in the field to collect samples. Similar analytical tools that are used in hospital and research laboratories are used for Forensic toxicology. Forensic toxicologists can spend a lot of time in isolation studying one, single substance, but they have to be persistent and mentally sharp because their job can determine the fate of others.
