Gabby Douglas
Gabby Douglas was the first African American to become the Olympic individual champion.
Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas was born December 31 1995, in Newport News Virginia.
Gabby grew up close to Virginia Beach. There she was raised by her mother, Natalie Hawkins-Douglas, and her father ,Timothy Douglas,. She also grew up with three other older siblings. Two older sisters, Arielle and Joyelle, and one older brother, Johnathan.
She won the level 4 all-around gymnastics titlle at the age of 8, in 2004.
When Gabby was six she started gymnastics at the Gymstrada. At age 14 she had to leave her family to study better in gymnatsics and moved in with a family friend in Des Moines, Iowa. That is where she started training with Liang Chow.
One of Gabby's older sisters was the reason she started gymnastics. Her sister begged Gabby's mom to enroll her in gymnastics classes. And thats how we have the famous Gabby Douglas today.
Although Gabby has no children, nor husband, she is still super sucesful in what she does.
Gabby douglas is well known for gymnastics. She started gymnastics when she was six years old. She won her first show at age 8.
Gabby's impact on other African American woman is amazing. She was both the first African woman to win a gold medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games. And the first African American to win all- round title.
Gabby douglas was not for sure retired from Gymnastics but has taken a pause since 2016. After she successful stints at the Olympic Games. But she is still active on social media.
