i like the story of cinder edna. but I don't like all the judgment the narrator places on cinderella. I suppose that for an older chid, they'd get the joke, but my daughter is a bright 4.5 year old, and, i'm afraid this book teaches about passing judgement and makes a very negative statement about what the narrator imagines cinderella to be like. This would be a much better story if cinder edna was a parallel to the cinderella story. but it very much feels like cinder edna is meant to be superior in an unpleasant way. It's too bad, because i really do like the cinder edna part of the story. i'm just not comfortable with the judgement on cinderella and her prince (they are both made to be very vain, interested in nothing more than their looks) Deborah G

Cinder Edna By Ellen Jackson Such a wonderful book with a strong female role model being prized not for her looks but her wit and resourcefulness. She's not being rescued but falling in love with a man she shares much in common with. It also tells Cinderella's story as cinder Edna' s neighbour and the contrast is great. My 3yo daughter loves it and so do I! - Kate
