Classroom settings
Let's dive into some types of classroom settings, along with their advantages and disadvantages.
Hybrid
Synchronous
Asychronous
A hybrid classroom setting includes aspects from both online and in-person learning environments. This may look like having specified days for meeting in person, while also having assignment due dates and resources for students to work on their own.
Synchronous learning is delivering materials and resources at the same time as peers. These classes would have livestreams where classes meet at specified times.
An asychronous class gives the student more control of the pace at which they do work. This is done by allowing students to access materials, and connect with peers or their instructor, when they choose to. An asychronous class has plenty of resources and materials for students, and when/if the student accesses those materials is up to them. These classes still have deadlines and requirements.
cons of the classroom settings
Asynchronous
- Distance between class participants and instructor
- Requires self-discipline to succeed
Synchronous
- Dependent on instructor
- Lacks flexibility
- Competition for instructor attention
Hybrid
- Mixture of both asynchronous and synchronous cons

Panopto
- Panopto is a video platform for education. Panopto claims to improve learning outcomes and student engagement. Teachers are able to record, edit, and share lectures.
- As a teacher, I would certainly be using Panopto in my teaching of every lesson. Panopto allows me to record lectures and share them with students.
- I would use visuals in my lectures to keep students engaged.
- Doesn't require training, however tutorials are available for the program.
- A challenge would be that the children wouldn't be able to speak to me and ask questions directly when watching lectures. I would give children my contact info and make a discussion board for questions.
- Workee allows you to have a tutoring business. You have clients, that are given the ability to sign up for time slots with you. Workee allows for a flexible work shcedule.
- I would use this website to allow my students and their parents to set up times to have a conversation with me virtually. This would allow for good communication between everyone, and give a space for worries to be brought up.
- I would have easy directions given to students and their parents so that they feel ready to engage.
