MAP OF THE TERRITORY COVERED BY THE TROPICAL CLIMATE
DEFINITION & CHARACTERISTICS
- Climate characterized by the high temperatures averaging more than 20 ºC in a year. - Precipitation varies from 2,000 mm or liters per square meter in areas like Southwest Asia or areas close to Center America. In the tropical climate precipitation can be low such as in areas near the desserts (an average of 400 mm). - Thermal gradient or temperature variance increases if we move away from the equator. - There are dry and wet seasons and depending of the predominance of each one: there are two types of climates depending of the predominance of each one: dry tropical and wet tropical.
CLIMOGRAPHS
CLIMOGRAPHS ARE GRAFICS THAT SHOW TWO THINGS: AVERAGE OF TEMPERATURE OF A MONTH AND THE AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION DURING A MONTH. ACORDING TO THESE, CLIMOGRAPHS SHOW IN A FAST VIEW THE TYPICAL CLIMATE IN A SPECIFIC PLACE. EXAMPLES:
Vietnam
Costa Rica
Mozambique
TYPICAL LANDSCAPES
Because of the unstable conditions, humans doesn't live there so they don't change these amazing landscapes. They are natural landscapes
DRY TROPICAL
HUMID TROPICAL
FAUNA
In these climate, there are thousands of animal species divided in two main groups. - Humid climate: most species founded in rainforests. - Dry climate (mostly founded in the sabana).
FLORA
In the humid tropical climate, there are lots of species due to the amount of precipitation in those areas. Because of that, there are lots of amazing tropical rainforests. In the other side, in the dry tropical, because it doesn't rain much, only few species can adapt to those conditions.
SOIL
Tropical soils are found under very hot conditions, and high rainfall. They are the worlds oldest soils. They are so old, that they are rusty. These soils have very little nutrients and organic matter.
