Sekhmet

Make inferences about Sekhmet.

Who was she? What inferences can you make?

Sekhmet was a warrior and healing goddess - the Egyptians believed Sekhmet had a cure for all illnesses. She had the head of a lioness and sometimes appeared with a sun disk or serpent. The lioness's headdress suggests she was fierce as she destroyed Ra's enemies. She also held a sceptre and ankh in her hands; this suggests she gave the Egyptians life by making the Nile flood each year and allowing the crops to grow.
