SIMPLE PRESENT PASSIVE

Start
we use passive voice when:
- You don't want to say WHO or WHAT did the action = The doer of the action.
- You don't know WHO or WHAT did the action = you don't know The doer of the action.
- THE OBJECT is the most important part of the sentence.
ACTIVE VOICE
People eat traditional dishes during the festival.
subject verb object
The subject is the doer of the action.
PASSIVE VOICE
THE OBJECT is the most important part of the sentence.
- People cook traditional dishes at Christmas (Active)
subject verb. object
- Traditional dishes are cooked at Christmas. (Passive)
subject verb be past participle.
- The object of the active becomes the new subject of the passive.
- Conjugate the verb "be" = is / are/ am.
- Add the past participle of the main verb.
PASSIVE VOICE
If the doer of the action is impportant, you can introduce it with the word BY.
- Folk music is played by local bands.
- The Passive Voice is frequently used by English Speakers.
