Chloroplast

History of the Chloroplast

Microscopic studies of chloroplasts are traced back to the year 1678.Antonie van Leeuwenhoek reported that he saw green globules in grass leaf cells with his single-lens microscope.

In what type of cells it is found in?
What does the Chloroplast do?

Chloroplasts perform photosynthesis during the daylight hours. Chloroplasts work to convert light energy of the Sun into sugars that the cell uses.

Chloroplasts are found in plant cells, but not in animal cells.

How does it contribute to the cell?
