Stop 1
Svalbard, Norway
We’ve made it to our first stop. Svalbard represents one of the most remote regions of the world, as well as one of the northernmost inhabited landmasses on earth. Taken together, Svalbard glaciers represent 6% of the worldwide glacier area outside the large ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica — if they totally melted, they would raise the sea level by 1.7 centimetres. They are shaped like domes with steep sides and extensive flat interiors. These peculiar features make Svalbard glaciers highly vulnerable to climate warming.

The Great Barrier Reef,Australia
We’ve now made it half way through our trip. Welcome to Australia. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef system on the planet. 2,900 individual corals cover a distance of 344,000 square kilometres. The Great Barrier Reef supports a huge amount of natural life with at least 9,000 known species housed in the system. Sadly, the Great Barrier Reef is hugely at risk from climate change with the potential for multiple significant impacts, including coral bleaching, ultimately killing the corals that make up the reef structure.
