What's Pollution?

Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment.

Pollution is a global problem. Although urban areas are usually more polluted than the countryside.

The pollution is rising.

How can we reduce pollution?

-We should reduce the use of plastic. -We should separate our garbage for recycling. -We should unplug our electrical appliances unless we are using them. -We should prefer to use public transport more.

Do you know this?

How long does it last?

Major Types

Air Pollution:
Light Pollution:
Littering:

Includes light trespass, over-illumination and astronomical interference.

The criminal throwing of inappropriate man-made objects, unremoved, onto public and private properties.

The release of chemicals and particulates into the atmosphere.

Noise:
Plastic:
Soil Contamination:

Occurs when chemicals are released by spill or underground leakage.

which encompasses roadway noise, aircraft noise, industrial noise as well as high-intensity sonar.

Involves the accumulation of plastic products and microplastics in the environment

Water Pollution:

EXAMPLES:

Smog pollution in Taiwan

Air pollution in the US, 1973

Why was it founded?

Is the public adequately informed about plastic pollution?

The zero waste program has been going on since the end of 2017 with Emine Erdoğan and serious awareness raising activities are being carried out in the society about separating waste

What kind of problem will arise in the future if we cannot prevent the use of plastic?

According to one of our studies, we swallow an average of 5 grams of plastic a week, and that's the size of a credit card. It's the size of a clothes hanger per month. Right now, scientists don't know what this will lead to, but everyone agrees it's not a good thing.

You said in the air we breathe... How are they formed in the air?

Plastics smaller than 5mm are called microplastics. They are mostly exposed from vehicle tires. They are exposed as a result of wear when vehicles move suddenly. Nylon and synthetic are also used in the clothes we wear, and these wear out over time.

What can we do individually to prevent pollution?

We can do two main things: first, we must dispose of our waste correctly, that is, we must separate household waste and packaging waste. On the other hand, it is very important to consume less disposables. They have a very short lifespan but cause the greatest pollution.
