Description16PF
- The self-report instrument was first published in 1949 by Raymond Cattell.
- The second edition was published in 1956.
- the third edition was published in 1962.
- The five alternative forms of the fourth edition were released between 1967 and 1969.
- The most recent edition of (16PF), released in 1993, is the fifth edition (16PF5e) of the original instrument.

- Parallel personality questionnaires designed to measure corresponding trait constructs in younger age ranges, such as,
- High School Personality Questionnaire (HSPQ)
- Adolescent Personality Questionnaire (APQ) for ages 12 to 18 years
- Children's Personality Questionnaire (CPQ)
- Early School Personality Questionnaire (ESPQ)
- Preschool Personality Questionnaire (PSPQ)

Test Administartion
- It can be self administered because the instructions in cover page of the test booklet is simple and clear
- Test user should establish harmonious relationship with the examinee.
Detailed Instruction :1. Use a seprate (sheet) answer sheet. 2. Tell the examinee whether to tear off the back of the test booklet as answer sheet or to use seprate answer sheet.
Test Administartion
- IHave him or her enter his name, etc. at the top of the answer sheet; to read the instructions carefully, and work out the four examples.
- Read the instructions aloud with the client, or discuss certain points when deem necessary.
- Give the examiness about 5 minutes for readig the directions and working the examples. Then say, turn the page and begin
- In group test, you may interrupt the examinees after about ten minutes by saying, most people are now doing questions.
Test Administartion
- Look around and correct early and improper ways of indicating answers that might later cause difficulty in scoring, check if the nameshave been filled in before collecting answer sheets, and that there is only one answer given for every question on the test.
Scoring
- Scores of the PF scale are present on a 10point scale, or standard-ten point scale. eg: W= 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
- Low score= reserved
- High score= warm
2. The standard 10-point scale has a mean of 5.5 and a standard deviation of 2, with scores below 4 considered low and scores above 7 considered high.

- The sten-scale are bipolar meaning that each end of the scale has a distinct definition and meaning.

Cattell And Schuerger provided six steps that outline how they recommend interpreting the results of the 16-PF:1. Consider the context of the assessment. 2. Evaluate the response style indexes by first checking responses on factor B and then looking at the scores of the infrequency , impression management and acquiescence scales .

3. Evaluate the global scales scores4. Evaluate the primary scales in the context of the global scales 5. Consider scale interactions. 6. Integrate 16-PF results in relation to the assessment question.

- • The 16PF psychological test is used in the areas of recruitment, selection, job placement, career development and counseling.
- • It can be used to measure individuals’ suitability for roles that require an understanding of customer needs and preferences.
- • It is also used to identify individual strengths, weaknesses and behaviors.
- • It can be used to identify areas of personal development, team-building and communication.
Limitations
- • The 16PF psychological test may not accurately measure certain aspects of personality, such as creativity and intelligence.
- • It may not be suitable for those with mental health issues, as it may not provide an accurate picture of the individual’s mental state.
- • It is also limited by the fact that it is unable to measure certain aspects of personality, such as social and emotional intelligence.
- • It may not be suitable for individuals with low levels of education or language skills, as it may not provide an accurate assessment of their abilities.
