What is a noun?

A noun is a person, place, thing or idea.

What is a pronoun?

A word that takes the place of a noun.

he she we I they us me you them we it that

A pronoun refers back to the noun it replaces.

The woman bought a cupcake. She ate it.

Singular

Plural

If the noun is singular (like “cat”), the pronoun will also be singular (like “it”). Example: The cat ran away because it was scared.

Plural If the noun is plural (like “boys”), the pronoun will also be plural (like “they”). Example: The boys listened because they were in class.

Possessive Pronouns

A possessive pronoun is a pronoun that is used to indicate possession or ownership. This pen is my pen, not your pen. This pen is mine, not yours.
