Academy21 Classroom Guide on:

  • Breakout rooms
  • Drawing tools

The Chat pod is where you type in answers or questions for everyone to see.

The Q & A pod is where your answers are private, that means only you and the teacher can see them. The pod is sometimes called 'Private Chat' or 'Chat to Teacher'

The chat pod is a group chat. What ever is typed here is seen by the teacher and your fellow students.
You can change the colour of your messages by clicking here

Now when you type in the chat it will be your chosen colour

Your teacher can reply to you privately
This pod allows you to answer the teacher privately. Only they can see your messages.

You will often be asked to complete activities independently during the lessons. The teacher will put you into a breakout room so you can do the task on your own

The first thing you will notice is that the classroom layout may be different.
No one else will be able to come into your room, apart from the teacher.
When working on your own, you may need to ask the teacher for some help or guidance. There are two ways to do this.

You will need to be able to type, write or draw on the worksheet. In order to do this, you will need to turn the drawing tools on.

The Tools

Your teacher may ask you or all of your class to work on an activity on the slide.
They will enable the tool menu. You can see it appear on the left hand side of the slide.
We'll go through the different tools one by one

This tool allows you to draw or write freehand on the slide using your mouse.

The marker tool

You can change the colour
Then use your mouse to draw.
You can change the thickness

The highlighter tool

This tool allows you to use your mouse to highlight anything on the board.

Double click the marker icon and choose highlighter from the list
You can change the colour
Then use your mouse to highlight the items.

The text tool

This tool allows you to type onto the board.

Type your text then ...
...click outside the box to finish
You can choose a font
Left click to start a text box
Choose a font size, 25 to 30 is best
Choose a colour for your text
The selection tool
This tool allows you to select items on the slide and move, edit or delete them
Double clicking allows you to edit the font, colour or change the size of the item
Left click on the item to select it
When selected you can delete the item by hitting your delete key or clicking the bin icon. You also have an undo and redo icon.
Drag the item

This tool allows you to draw rectangles, lines and other shapes. The default shape is a rectangle.

You can choose the border colour
You can choose the border thickness
Then draw your rectangle
You can choose a fill colour or leave it empty
You can make the fill transparent or opaque

You will need to be able to draw lines on the slides.

Double click the rectangle icon to access the shape menu. Click on the line tool.
You can change the colour
You can change the thickness
Then use your mouse to draw the lines

You can create more shapes by choosing the other menu choices
