The Great White Hurricane

The Blizzard of 1888

The Blizzard of 1888 was nicknamed The Great White Hurricane because it down poured snow over the northeastern US over several days. It was also nicknamed ‘The Children's Blizzard’ because so many kids died coming home from school.

The Great Blue Norther of 1911

The Great Blue Norther of 1911 was a meteorological event where temperatures dropped dramatically over the course of 12 hours.In Columbia, Missouri, temperatures had gone from 82 to 38 in the span of an hour and changed warm breezes to howling gales.

The dust bowl was the name given to a series of dust storms that was caused by extreme drought in the 1930's.

This hurricane happened in 1900 and was known as The Great Storm because it had leveled the biggest city in Texas.

The first photograph of a tornado was taken in 1884 by A. A. Adams in Garnett, Kansas. Not much is known about this tornado.

London's Great Smog was a result of burning too much coal into the air. It produced noxious gasesFor every person to breathe in, prompting many diseases.

Mt. Wasington is the highest peak of a montain in the Northeastern US. It is most well known for it's erratic weather and had a world record back in 2016 for being the windiest place on earth.

China's Sorrow is a nickname for the Yellow River in China. It is nicknamed Chinas Sorrow because it changes courses often and causes frequent floods.
