Fostering linguistic competence and performance through a systematic study of the English language in order to enhance communicative skills in English.
description of the course
In this course, you will get acquainted about the study of language; that is, Linguistics. In the first unit , you will study some characteristics of language that makes it unique for human beings. So, you will have the opportunity to create your own concept about language. In addition, you will get some insights about a historical background about the origins of the English language, the social context of language, and some neurolinguistic aspects of language functions. In the second unit, you will focus mainly on different branches of linguistics or components of linguistics, such as phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. This will help you get some insights and deep understandings of the language structure. Finally, in unit three, you will be encouraged to do some research on linguistics based on the contents previously studied and the experiences you have gained so far in language learning.
