Happy February Old Colony Community, I hope this edition of the Newsletter finds you all safe and warm as we navigate through another weird New England Weather. This weekend's storm lasted a long time, but did not deliver a huge punch. We have a lot going on this winter at Old Colony. The Drama Club is gearing up for their production of the Addams Family on January 27, 28 and 29. We are excited to announce the return of the Frosty Runner Road Race on January 28th. Our AP classes are going the extra mile with their partnership with Mass Insight, sports are in full swing and Mr. Cougar can’t be far off. We continue to recognize our faculty and students for the amazing things they do in and outside the classroom. In honor of Martin Luther King Day, we have honored his legacy with one of his famous quotes on our markee that is a reflection of our core beliefs and a special remembrance of his life achievements at our All School Assembly led by our Assistant Principal, Mr. Linehan, on January 17th. “I have decided to stick with love, hate is too great a burden to bear” -MLK Be Well, Mr. Parker

All Grade 9 students have been placed into a vocational program. All students must complete the first cycle in their awarded program before any vocational program transfers can be considered. If your child would like to be placed on the waiting list for another program upon the completion of the first shop cycle, they must complete the transfer request paperwork form with a parent/guardian. This Google Form will be posted in the “OC Guidance Class of 2026” Google Classroom on January 30th. Students cannot be considered for a vocational program transfer without completing this Google Form.

Congratulations to our Automotive Department! Automotive Technology recently hosted members of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) for their 5-year reaccreditation. The reaccreditation results stated that our program continues to meet the requirements for Master Automobile Service Technology Accreditation – the highest level of program accreditation recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). We commend Dennis Frates, Scott Furtado, and John Mare for maintaining their program’s standards and continuing to meet the industry’s requirements. The explosion in automotive technology makes our high-quality automotive training program more valuable than ever. To acknowledge this accomplishment, a plaque insert will be created by ASE to recognize Old Colony and the level of accreditation our program has achieved.
