Identity

The precise identity of these figures is disputed.

"Lady Wisdom" has also been understood in several ways: as an actual woman, as a personification of a virtue, as a hypostasis of God, or as a goddess herself.

It is unclear whether the woman described in Proverbs 7 and elsewhere is intended to be an actual woman (someone the son might meet and should be wary of) or whether she's a personification of foolish behaviour (thus, "Lady Folly").
