I picked the practice cones because It is an important plot event. It is an important plot event because at Neely's practice an NFL scout came to look at Neely's skills. The scout talked to Neely after practice and wanted to look into recruiting him. So Neely worked the hardest he could so he would get recruited. He wouldn't take a single day off because he thought he wouldn't make it. A couple weeks later he hears his phone ringing.
I picked a bullet because in the book a main conflict takes place containing a bullet. The main conflict was that Neely's dad got shot in an open fire robbery in a store. His dad was Neely's biggest supporter. That meant Neely had to try to live on past that tragic moment. It was hard because he had to still work on football but he was so sad that he started to fall of his game. Neely had to overcome and strive to be the best he could and to do that he just thought back to what his dad would want him to do.
I picked the football as my theme because this book is mainly based on football. Also in the book football is very popular in there state. I think it would be a good theme because football is a game of success but at the same time there is some failure. So football shows the lesson of keep working hard even if you don't see results. I think the author was trying to tell us that football has a lot of meanings behind it and the book does a good job of explaining it. In the book people make good friendships from football so the author just wants people to try new things.
I picked sunglasses as my setting because it is in the summer. Also they live in Mississippi which is in the southern area which is mainly really hot. Also they were mostly always outside in the book so that's why I added the sunglasses. In Mississippi there usually is always sun there. Sunglasses are important to the setting because its at a football stadium so it would be sunny. I also added sunglasses because it gives a chill vibe and thats how the setting really is in the book.
I picked the trophy because it shows complexity of the main character (Neely) a lot. The trophy shows complexity because when Neely was on a bad team he was always mad his team couldn't win. But then they started getting trophies for winning and his complexity completely changed. He got a lot happier when he got his trophy that shows an example of complexity. Neely always is competitive so his complexity changes a lot. Thats why the trophy shows complexity towards Neely.
I picked an NFL logo because it relates to a symbol of the book. It relates to the book because the book is about football and the NFL is the National Football League. Neely has always wanted to play in the NFL so he looks up to the people who are in it. I also picked the NFL logo because Neely practices so hard so one day he could play in it. Neely had a grandparent who played in the NFL so this symbol means a lot to him in different ways. An NFL scout came to one of Neely's game to see if he could recruit him.
