Interaction
We interact using:
- Our senses
- Nervous system
- Locomotory system
Process of interacction
- Our senses tell us What's Happening
- The information travels along the sensory nerves to the brain
- The brain receives the info, processes it and responds with the nerves, muscles or glands
NERVE CELLS
the nerve cells
THE BRAIN
CEREBRUM: Largest and more complex part of the brain. It controls our intelligence, memory, personality, emotions, ability to feel and move. CEREBELLUM: It is the responsable of balance and coordination. BRAINSTEM: It connects the brain with the spinal cord. It controls involuntary actions (Breathing, heartbeat...)
Tne brain coordinates the nervous system and controls all of the body's activity. It has 3 parts
Spinal cord and nerves
spinal cord and nerves
Spinal cord
It connects the brain with the body. It's a thick tube made up by nerve tissue.
Nerves
Sensory nerves
Motor nerves
They connect the spinal cord to the muscles. Whe have two types:
Receive messages from the environment and send them to the brain
Transmit messages from the brain to muscles and glands
THE 5 senses
Videos
touch
Videos
touch
- Nerve endings detect information (temperature, texture, shape) of the things we touch.
- They produce nerve impulses and the sensory nerves send them to the brain.
- The skin has 3 different layers:
+ info
sight
Videos
PARTS OF THE EYE
Tempor Labore
how do we see?
- Light goes into the eye through the pupil. Then it passes through the lens
- The lens proyects an upside-down image onto the retina. This information is sent to the optic nerve.
- The optic nerve transmits the information to the brain,
smell
Videos
- Smells are made up of gasses in the air. When air goes into the nose, the gases are detected by the olfatory cells.
- They send the nerve impulses to the brain through the olfatory nerve.
hearing
Videos
Process of hearing
- Sound waves go into the ear and hit the eardrum. It vibrates too
- The eardrum vibration makes the small bones (" yunque, martillo and estribo") vibrate too.
- The vibration of the small bones is detected by the cochlea and it produces nerve impulses. That impulses are transmitted by the auditory nerve to the brain,
taste
Videos
TASTE
- Our tongue can detect 4 tastes: SWEET, SALTY SOUR AND BITTER
- They are combined with smells and combined in the brain make us feel FLAVOURS
- In our tongue we have tiny pink bumps that are called TASTE BUDS
- They detect chemicals in food. When food is mixed with saliva the taste buds detect them.
- They produce a nerve impulse which is sent to the gustatory nerve which transmits the info to the brain
