Civilizations mainly developed between the Tigris and Euphrates River. This area is called Mesopotamia, meaning "between rivers". Civilizations developed between 9000 BCE and 7000 BCE.
How did they get around?
The people here invented the wheel around 3500 BCE. By 2500 BCE, they were using the wheel for carts and chariots. Horses pulled them. They developed boats with sails to travel long distances for trade with other palces.
What did they eat?
They grew cerreal crops like barley and wheat. They ate fruits and vegatables including dates and onions. Fish was a big part of their diet.
What tools did they use?
Around 3500 BCE, people started to use bronze for tools and weapons. Tools included axes, knives, saws, chisels, the potter's wheel, and the plow.
