WHERE DID IT APPEAR?

It appeared in Africa, in the northeast of Africa, in Egypt, a country that still exists today.

WHEN DID ANCIENT EGYPT CIVILISATION APPEAR?

It appeared 5000 years ago (3000 BC). It lasted approximately 3000 years.

WHERE DID THEY SETTLE THEIR CITIES, TEMPLES, HOMES, CROPS AND FARMS? WHY?

They built their homes and farms next to the Nile river. It is the second longest river in the world (6659 meters). This river was very important because Egypt was surrounded by desert. They depended on its water to survive.

WHAT DID THEY USE WATER FROM THE NILE FOR?

1. AGRICULTURE: to water the crops. Farmers also made channels to water their fields so the harversts got bigger and bigger. 2. TO FISH AND HUNT 3. AS ROAD TO TRANSPORT:-goods -large stone blocks for their constructions FOR ALL THE ABOVE REASONS RIVER NILE WAS CONSIDERED A GOD.

WERE THEY POLYTHEISTIC? DID THEY WORSHIP SEVERAL GODS?

Yes, they were polytheistic. They worshipped several gods. Some gods had a human body and animal head. The most important was Ra, God of Sun ( falcon´s head).

WHO WERE THE EGYPTIAN PHARAOHS? COULD YOU NAME ONE?

They were Ancient Egypt´s KINGS.Pharaohs were considered to be gods too. There were many pharaohs over 3000 years but the most famous was TUTANKHAMUN. He became a pharaoh when he was ONLY 9 years old.

WHY IS TUTANKHAMUN SO FAMOUS?

Because his tomb was the only one which remained intact. The treasure hunters didn´t find it. It was discovered by archeologists in 1922.

WHY DID THE TREASURE HUNTERS LOOK FOR EGYPTIAN TOMBS?

Because they knew that the pharaohs wereburied with all their belongings: -furniture -vases -clothes -even food -TREASURES They believed in life after death so all those things were needed to survive.

WHAT DID THEY DO WITH THE PHARAOHS BODIES?

They were mummified to preserve their bodies as they believed they would be born again in a new life. These are the famous mummies.

WHERE DID THEY BURY THE MUMMIES?

They were buried in a sarcophagus. They were luxurious coffins covered with beautiful drawings and hieroglyphics. The sarcophagus were placed in tremendous pyramid (tombs). There were many tunnels, chambers and secrets passages.
