WHAT IS MESOPOTAMIA FAMOUS FOR?

WHY IS MESOPOTAMIA OFTEN CALLED THE "CRADLE OF CIVILISATION"?

BIG CITIES WRITING IRRIGATION SYSTEM LAWS AND RULES WHEEL ( POTTERY, CARTS AND CHARIOTS)

1. They lived in big cities. 2. They used irrigation systems for the first time to bring water from rivers to their farms.

Rivers in Mesopotamia were unpredictable. Sometimes a big rain storm could make rivers overflow so the farmers made channels to water the fields.

3. They invented writing. 4. They created a sysmtem of laws and rules for the society. 5.They used the wheel (pottery, carts, chariots)

They invented a system to represent what they wanted to buy and sell. They did it with pictograms, pictures to represent things. They wrote the first words on clay tablets, not on paper. To do that they used sharp pointed objects and wrote on wet clay.
