What is Genius Hour?

Genius hour sets time aside for students to choose what they want to learn and how they learn it.

The goal of Genius Hour is to allow students to research and create a project over a topic they are passionate about.

Implementation

Students would have a set time twice a week to be able to find a topic, research, create, and reflect on their learning.Genius hour is something that would be easy to implement, but would take some time for students to get the hang of it.

Teachers are able to guide them by setting expectations, help them problem solve, and coach them as they research their topic.

It is only an hour of a day so teachers still have their main lessons, but this simple hour allows for students to choose what they want to learn.

Students are able to research a topic they choose, something they find interesting.

Student might want to research something inappropriate.

Finding appropriate resources for students to use.
