How can my students and I use genially?

Teachers using Genially

Teachers can use Genially to create visually appealing, engaging, interactive content for classroom lessons.

  • Flip your classroom - Instead of a lecture, create a Genially and provide students with the opportunity to choose how to learn (read, watch or listen). You can even add audio recordings of your lesson right into your Genially!
  • Use the quiz template for a quick warm-up or closing activity.
  • You can also create an escape room for students to engagingly review important information before an exam.
  • Have students collaborate and analyze an infographic, adding annotations and insights using interactive tool tips.
  • Let students create their own presentations or materials to be published online for others to learn from.

Genially & Canvas

Genially embeds seamlessly into Canavs assignments and can even be graded using Speedgrader when students submit one.
Your Genially creations can be embedded into Canvas assignments and discussions using the HTML editor.
I will show you exactly how to do this later!

Students Using Genially

Genially provides your students with new ways to show what they know.

Instead of students always writing essay analyses of texts, they could show their learning however is best for them.

  • For example, students in a marketing or communications/rhetoric course could upload an image of an advertisement and could add interactive elements that pop up when they hover over it.
  • They could write their analysis while pointing to something specific. BUT they could also add a video or audio of themselves explaining their analysis. The arrow above the example shows what they would click to add their audio.
  • Genially's can also have multiple collaborators so students in a group can all work on one together.
  • When students submit the sharing link of the Genially, the Genially is then viewable in Speedgrader in Canvas.

Grading a Genially in Speedgrader

When creating an assignment, make sure you allow students to submit URLs as a submission option. They will submit their Genially using a share link. Then their completed Genially will load in Speedgrader for you to easily interact with and grade!
