Biography

Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, India, into a family belonging to the merchant caste known as the Bania. Gandhi was an Indian peace leader. In addition, the main personality of the independence of India, then a British colony. He rose to prominence in the fight against the British through his non-violence project. Mahatma died on January 30, 1984 at the age of 78.

Achivements

Gandhi stood out as the main character of the struggle for Indian independence. He resorted to marches and civil disobedience, encouraging the non-payment of taxes and the boycott of English products.

Influence

Gandhi organized a resistance, fought anti-Indian legislation in the courts, and led large protests against the colonial government. Along the way, he created a public image and philosophy of truth-focused, non-violent non-cooperation, thereby building a form of protest that is still widely used today.

Philosophy

The philosophy defended by Mahatma Gandhi was called Satyagraha and means firmness and constancy, according to the Hindi term. This thought says that violence is not the way to achieve the desired goals.

Conclusion

For me, Mahatma Gandhi was revolutionary with his philosophy. He created a non-violent but activist form of protest because it caused the civil disobedience that was needed. Even so, Gandhi has been changing many people's minds since then, leaving violence aside and supporting activist protests that are very present today.
