INSTRUCTIONS ON THE PROCEDURES FOR THE EDUCATIONAL ATTENTION OF STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT NEEDS IN THE SCHOOLS OF THE AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY OF THE CANARY ISLANDS.

- The student should be seated close to the teacher and away from distractions. - Class or homework should be reduced or fragmented and requires continuous supervision; the most motivating activities and tasks should be combined with those that are less motivating for him or her, and must be properly graded and contextualized. - It is necessary to promote skills in which the student excels, in order to improve his or her self-esteem and motivation. - It is recommended to use reinforcement and visual aids in oral instructions.

- It should be verified that the student understands what the teacher has explained, asking him/her some questions that he/she can answer correctly or asking him/her, in a discreet way, to repeat verbally what he/she has to do. - It is essential to use the agenda with these students. - It is appropriate to space out the work instructions so that a new task is not given immediately until the previous one has been completed. - It is recommended to write the work instructions on a piece of paper or on the class blackboard, maintaining classroom routines and, in case of changes, to warn the student individually. - It is suitable to use written or oral "homework guides" that imply a sequence of actions, such as, for example, obtaining the main idea of a text, summarizing a text, writing a composition, solving a calculation problem, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS ON THE PROCEDURES FOR THE EDUCATIONAL ATTENTION OF STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT NEEDS IN THE SCHOOLS OF THE AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY OF THE CANARY ISLANDS.

- It is recommended that the entire teaching team agree on minimum standards of behaviour in class and, if necessary, other specific standards for each area or subject. - These guidelines should be written and visible in the classroom, and it should be verified that the student with ADD understand the rules and the consequences of not following them. - It is important to remember that greater motivation is provided to the student when small advances, successes or appropriate behaviours are highlighted, than when attention is called to the learner or emphasis is placed on his or her mistakes, failures and errors.

- Regarding assessment and the adaptation in the evaluation procedures and instruments referred to in article 29. 8 of the Order of December 13, 2010, the student will be given the possibility of taking them orally or by computer, except in aspects related to reading and writing in Spanish Language and Literature or Foreign Language. - In addition, it is recommended to develop the written tests in at least two sessions, observing the necessary flexibility in their duration. -The exam questions will be presented in writing to avoid the slowness of other procedures such as copying or dictation, with the inclusion of questions or items of the same type, to avoid the greater possibility of error or confusion arising from a combination of forms. - During the exam, the appropriate indications will be given, such as time control and the recommendation to review what has been done before its delivery. - It is recommended to announce the dates of the exams in advance.

Understand the general meaning, the essential information, the most relevant points and important details in short written texts, "authentic" or adapted, that are well structured and deal with daily, general or interesting matters, in order to participate with progressive autonomy in common situations in the personal, public, educational or occupational spheres.

According to methodology, and following Harmer's ESA model, the teacher will start the class with an opening/motivating activity, a video about family members, to engage students. This type of activities which combine visual elements ang games, attract the attention of our students, including those students with Attention Deficit Disorder. This activity will introduce the next one which is an easy reading comprehension activity based on the Simpsons Family. This activity includes short sentences and pictures that will help the ADD students to complete the activity.
